Anouk Rijs

Professor Analytics of Biomolecular Interactions at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Keynote speaker

Anouk Rijs is full professor Analytics of Biomolecular Interactions at the division of BioAnalytical Chemistry (MS-LaserLab) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is internationally recognized in the field of mass spectrometry coupled with ion mobility and/or IR and UV action spectroscopy, specializing in the structural elucidation of molecules spanning from aggregating proteins to intricate protein complexes. She has a strong track record of competitive funding, including an NWO Vici and Aspasia grant, later awards through NWO Key Technologies and NWO-XL, and international recognition as a partner in the EU Marie Curie Doctoral Network SPIDoc’s. Anouk Rijs serves as the Chair of the editorial board of Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP, Royal Society of Chemistry) and she is the president of Dutch Society for Mass Spectrometry (NVMS). Her main research revolves around unraveling and controlling aggregation mechanisms of proteins associated in neurodegenerative diseases. This includes investigating transient and low-abundance structures within complex heterogeneous matrices, employing her expertise in instrument development.
